Volunteer at VOCAL
VOCAL started because ordinary people, affected by violent crime, saw injustice and cared enough to work together to make a difference. We value and welcome the valuable contribution that volunteers make to our organisation.
VOCAL Inc NSW has just a few paid staff. We rely on trained volunteers for the provision of many of our services. We welcome volunteers of all ages and from all walks of life; previous victims, professionals, students, and people with time to give to helping others.
‘Every police officer should come and volunteer at VOCAL – it changes lives.’ Police officer / volunteer.
Volunteering provides an opportunity to give something back to the community, acquire new skills and talents, and feel a sense of achievement.
Volunteers perform a wide variety of duties, including:
- Administrative work
- Fundraising and marketing
- Assisting with event management

- Providing Court support to victims who are going through a variety of Legal processes

- Being a member of VOCAL’s committee
- Writing letters to the media, politicians, judges, etc, advocating for the rights of victims of crime
Most volunteer positions require specialised training, especially working directly with victims of crime.
