Patron: Ms Sarah Wynter – actor, wife, mother working in USA but hailing from Newcastle. (Sarah has appeared in many films and other media including The Sixth Day, Three Dollars, and 24).
The registered charity ‘The Victims of Crime Assistance League Inc NSW (VOCAL) has, a membership base of community supporters, and invites you to join and support our work.
Since 1989 VOCAL has been a grass-roots, hands-on, down-to-earth positive support opportunity which really does help people harmed by violent, serious crime. Any crime of threatened or actual violence, any stage. We help others affected by a crime against a loved one, friend, workmate, and the services providers in the community.
Location
Head Office, located in Newcastle NSW also houses our Victim Support Unit which operates largely due to financial support via the NSW Government – the Crime Prevention Division and Victims Services Departments. We have three permanent staff, and some wonderful volunteers.
We offer support at the office – face to face, by telephone, by mail, by email, and can do some court support and outreach.
We can always use more staff and volunteers as the workload is immense.
We have one lone staff member working in the Sydney Region, who works closely with Government and other victim agencies located there. Best idea is to contact the office first!

Public Education and speakers
We are delighted to contribute proactively to any forum where victim’s issues may be promoted to bring about and improve justice for victims of crime, and awareness of issues, challenges, and remedies, and vacancies always exist for community members to get involved.
It includes providing services, speakers and support to any other service provider or community member – like schools, universities, TAFE colleges, community organizations etc.
VOCAL remains determinedly non-political, non-religious organisation concerned with issues arising for individual victims and for victims of crime in general – any victim, any crime of violence, and any issue arising because of the crime and its consequences.
